House of Pitmuies, Guthrie, Forfar
The house of Pitmuies is a beautiful walled garden in the grounds of an 18th century house, with exquisite old-fashioned roses and long borders containing a dramatic palette of massed delphiniums and other herbaceous perennials. Cool woodland, rhododendron glades, massed spring bulbs, riverside walks and unusual turreted dovecote and 'Gothick' was-house.
Crathes Castle Garden, Banchory, Aberdeenshire
On the north eastern coast of Scotland lies Crathes. The gardens surrounding this fairytale, turreted castle are divided into eight sections, including an enchanting white garden, red garden, golden garden, rose garden and formal pool and fountain, dominated by massive yew hedges. There is also an extensive wild garden and grounds with 10 miles of marked trails.
