Woodchester Mansion (Shroud)
The Victorian designed masterpiece Woodchester Mansion, near Shroud, wasn’t completed when building stopped in 1870. Today you can explore the Gothic building and take one of the many beautiful walks around the 400-acre parkland, which is home to wildlife and grazing stock.
Berkeley Castle (Shroud)
Your next stop is the magnificent Berkeley Castle, also near Shroud. The castle was completed in 1153 at the command of Henry II and ever since it has been the home of the Berkeley family – one of England's oldest families. Inside, you’ll find paintings, tapestry and rare silver and porcelain items.
Thames Head
Thames Head, the source of the River Thames, is a relaxing and enjoyable place to spend the last afternoon of your tour. There are many walking tracks around the area to discover and a large obelisk, which marks the source the areas as the Thames River source.
