Hessle
For most walkers, the start of the Yorkshire Wolds Way will be at the sculpture in the shadow of Humber Bridge, but for historic reasons, the trail starts at Hessle Haven, a short way back. The first few miles of the walk pass the Humber estuary, the ideal place to relax and watch the ships pass.
South Cave
The market town of South Cave is the next stop on the Yorkshire Wolds Way. The town dates back to the 11th century, and has all the amenities you'll need after your long walk. Take a walk around the farmers market, where you can pick up local organic produce, and visit the Gothic Cave Castle, which now operates as a hotel with a gym and golf club.
