Manchester Airport is located 10 miles south of Manchester city centre in the North of England. It's about halfway between London and Edinburgh, 80 miles from Birmingham and 60 miles from Leeds. The airport is easily accessible by all types of transport.

Taxi

You'll find Manchester City licensed taxis waiting to meet all arriving flights outside each arrivals hall at all three terminals and at the airport train and transport station, known as The Station. The fare into Manchester city centre is about £20 and takes about 30 minutes. For journeys outside Manchester you should agree the fare before the start of your journey.

Car

The airport is just off the M56 motorway to North Wales and very close to the M60 (Manchester’s ring road) and the M6 towards London. The airport is just 10 miles outside central Manchester and 35 miles east of Liverpool. London is about 200 miles south and takes about 3 hours to drive. Buses

Local bus operators Stagecoach, Trent and Arriva, run frequent services to and from the airport's Station, to Manchester, Altrincham and Stockport. Buses operate every half hour from early in the morning to late at night every day. Some services start as early as 3am, and finish as late as midnight. Stagecoach 43 operates up to every 10 minutes between the airport and central Manchester. A standard ticket cost £2.40 one way and journey time is about 1 hour.

Coach

Manchester Airport is connected directly to over 50 towns and cities in the UK with National Express coaches. Services run daily, and all coaches arrive and depart from the station. You can buy tickets from the National Express ticket desk at the Station between 07:00-20:00, but it is a good idea to book in advance.

Train

Manchester Airport has its own train station running services to over 100 destinations in the UK including the Lake District and York. There are direct, night services to and from Sheffield, Leeds, Huddersfield, Manchester, Bolton, Preston and Blackpool. Many other direct services are hourly from Monday to Saturday and most run a Sunday service.

During the day there are 6 trains an hour into the city centre and up to 4 through the night. Trains run to Manchester Piccadilly rail station and take approximately 15-20 minutes, many continue onto Oxford Road, Deansgate and Salford Crescent stations. From Manchester Piccadilly you can connect onto rail services countrywide. A standard ticket to Manchester Piccadilly is £3.25. You can buy your ticket at baggage reclaim in each terminal, at the train station, online or over the phone.
