Taxi

Checker Cars is the airport's dedicated taxi firm. There are taxis at the airport to meet every arriving flight. You'll find the booking desk in the arrivals hall and taxis just outside the terminal building. A taxi into central London costs about £18. Taxis are available to book 24 hours a day and many are wheelchair accessible.

Car

Stansted Airport is located just off the M11 motorway to London in the South and Cambridge in the North. The airport is about 30 miles northeast of central London and takes about 1 hour 15 minutes to drive depending on traffic. Coach

Stansted Airport has excellent connections with key towns and cities across the country. You'll find the coach station on the lower level between zones C and D of the short stay car park. You can buy tickets from the coach ticket desk in the arrivals hall (06:00 to 21:30), or in the coach station (24 hours a day, every day). You can also buy some tickets from the driver.

A number of coach operators run services from Stansted airport including National Express, which runs the most services. National express runs a number of services into central London including services to Golders Green, Victoria, Stratford, Trafalgar Square and Liverpool Street. Journey time is 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes depending on traffic and where you get off. A standard ticket costs £10 one way.

National Express also runs direct services from the airport to Norwich, Hemel Hempstead, High Wycombe, Oxford, Nottingham, Leicester, Luton, Milton Keynes, Coventry, Birmingham, Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton Airport, Brighton and Cambridge.

Train

Stansted Airport has its own train station situated below the terminal building. You can buy tickets online before you leave home or at the train station when you arrive.

Stansted Express is the fastest way into central London (London Liverpool Street) from Stansted airport. Trains leave Stansted every 15 minutes between 05:30-00:30 taking about 45 minutes to get into London. A standard ticket costs £15 one way.
