Where tennis meets tradition

The player steadies himself, a hush descends on the Centre Court crowd as he bounces the ball; once, twice… and then he unleashes an almighty serve across the net to clinch the title!

Wimbledon is the most famous tennis tournament in the world, and has been going since 1877. Since then, the Championships have developed from a garden party atmosphere to a highly professional tournament featuring players from over 60 countries, watched by millions of people worldwide.

Every year, around 500,000 tennis fans flock to Wimbledon to see the best players in the world battle it out for the title of Wimbledon Champion in an unbeatable atmosphere. The Championships start towards the end of June and last approximately two weeks, or until all events are complete.

To get a great flavour of the tournament, why not go behind the scenes all year round and take a tour? You’ll see the mighty Centre Court, sit where the pros give press conferences and get up close and personal with the trophies. The interactive museum also gives you a whistle-stop tour through Wimbledon history and is packed with memorabilia including Björn Borg’s iconic 1970s kit. Don’t miss the hologram of John McEnroe who’ll show you around the changing rooms!

Tickets for Wimbledon are always in fierce demand, and because of this, the club operates a public ballot (lottery) for advanced sales of Centre, No. 1 and No. 2 court tickets. The All England Club has also appointed 2 official tour operators who provide overseas tours and corporate hospitality packages.

There are a limited number of tickets for the other courts and grounds available at the entrance on the day - but you'll need to start queuing from about 06:00. For more information on Wimbledon tickets, visit Wimbledon tickets.
