Beaminster

With over 200 listed buildings in its historic centre, Beaminster is a charming place to visit and is one of West Dorset’s most tranquil towns. It stands at the head of the Brit Valley and is a walker’s paradise.

Famous for its local industry, Beaminster’s history documents the development of an impressive reputation for woolcloth and sailcloth.  The centre of the town has been designated a conservation area, and it maintains its charm and tranquillity despite being ravaged by fire three times over the centuries.  Shopping here is on a small scale with individual shops offering unique gifts and bakeries providing delicious fare for tempting high teas.
