Home to the Royal Signals, Hall & Woodhouse Badger Beer and the ever-popular 5-day extravaganza the Great Dorset Steam Fair, Blandford is a buzzing market town located on the River Stour and on the edge of both the Cranborne Chase and the Dorset Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town itself has a good range of shops and several museums, whilst outside town lie marvellous walking, cycling and horse riding opportunities, with the Jubilee Trail passing near the town and the North Dorset Cycleway passing through. The Blandford area has a wealth of charm, with many idyllic villages including those of the Tarrant and Winterborne valleys and Milton Abbas. 2005 sees the town celebrate the 400th anniversary of being granted its charter, with a number of special events throughout the year.
