Bridgwater is a bustling town, with a wonderful history. A community has existed here for over 1,000 years and the many examples of fine architecture throughout the town reflect its prosperous past.
Today, Bridgwater has a host of high street shops and more traditional outlets, as well as a variety of places to visit and a fine range of pubs and restaurants.
Combine a shopping trip to the Blake Museum or the Somerset Brick and Tile Museum, call in the arts centre to see the current exhibition or show, or have swim at the Sedgemoor Splash Leisure Pool.
Enjoy a walk along the towpath of the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal, or hire a boat and take a trip on the water. Bridgwater’s location at the foot of the Quantock Hills and on the edge of the Somerset Levels make it an ideal location for exploring the varied and beautiful countryside nearby.
Bridgwater is also world-famous for its illuminated Guy Fawkes Carnival. This spectacular procession, taking place each November, lights up the town with music and colour and is one of the largest carnivals in Europe.
