Stratford-upon-Avon

Take a local train to Stratford-upon-Avon, a delightful town famous as the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Then return to Birmingham and transfer to a late afternoon Virgin Cross-Country train that crosses the Heart of England and Yorkshire, finally traversing the River Tyne into Newcastle Central for your second overnight stop.

Newcastle Gateshead

Spend some time exploring Newcastle and Gateshead. The two areas face each other across the River Tyne coming together at the dazzling Quayside. The waterfront, with its modern art gallery, Millennium Bridge and Sage Centre, is a fantastic fusion of old and new architecture. Excellent nightlife and restaurants abound.
