Toll charges are made on some roads, tunnels, and bridges as a way of cutting congestion. Britain is very different from other European countries as only 1 of its roads is tolled. And this road also has a non-tolled alternative route.
Motorway tolls:
- M6 Toll Road - from junction 4 rejoining the M6 at 11a: £4 06:00-23:00, £3 all other times. The M6 splits and rejoins at junction 4 and 11a. You can use the regular M6 route without being charged.
Tunnel tolls:
- Dartford Tunnel (Thames): £1.00
- Mersey Tunnel (Liverpool): £1.30
- Tyne Tunnel (Newcastle): £1.00
Bridge tolls:
- Queen Elizabeth II Bridge (M25 motorway): £1.00
- Severn Bridge (M48 motorway, westbound): £5.10
- Second Severn Crossing (M4 motorway, westbound): £4.90
- Humber Bridge (A15 road): £2.70
- Tamar Bridge (A38 road, eastbound): £1.00
- Cleddau Bridge (A477 road): £0.75
- Forth Bridge (A90 road, northbound): £1.00
- Tay Bridge (A914 road, southbound): £0.80
