Train companies serving London are:

First/last trains

Trains don't run a 24-hour service. The first and last train times vary depending on the rail company, but the first train is usually between 05:00-06:00, and the last around 23:00.

Rush hours

If you can, you should avoid using the public transport during rush hours. At these times people are going to and from work and trains become extremely crowded. The morning rush hour is from about 08:00 to 09:30, and the evening one from about 17:00 to 18:30.

Frequency & journey times

The frequency and journey time of trains depends on the company running them, time of day, and destination. For up-to-the-minute information on train times and routes visit National Rail (www.nationalrail.co.uk/).

Popular tourist routes

Many trains don't travel directly through central London, but most stop at London's main railway stations (Euston, Kings Cross, Victoria, Waterloo, Paddington) so you can easily take a tube or bus from one of these stations to your destination.
