Glasgow Airport is the busiest of Scotland's three main international airports with over 40 airlines serving around 80 destinations. The airport lies about 9 miles west of the city centre, about a 20 minute drive away, and is well connected to most types of transport.

Travel options

Taxi

Airport taxis are available 24 hours a day to any destination and any distance. You'll find taxis waiting at the front of the terminal forecourt. Only approved taxis can pick up from the inner forecourt. The fare from the airport to Glasgow city centre is around £18 - £20. A list of fares is available at the booking office next to the taxi stop. For long distances, you should agree a price with your driver before you start your journey.

Car

Glasgow Airport is just off the M8 motorway giving easy access to Glasgow and Edinburgh, and both the east and the west coasts of Scotland. Glasgow is located at the centre of Scotland’s motorway network and you’ll find junctions to 4 other motorways nearby including the M74 which goes down to the Scottish border with England.

The airport is about 20 minutes drive from Glasgow city centre and about two minutes from Paisley, the nearest town. Use the VisitBritain journey planner (visitbritain.transportdirect.info/web2) to find the best route to your destination.

Bus

There are a number of bus services leaving from the front of the terminal building to Glasgow city centre and other local areas. There are very frequent bus services to the city centre between 05:40 and 00:30, Monday to Saturday, and between 06:25 and 00:55 on Sunday. Look out for the 905 and 950 buses, which stop at various locations in the city centre including stops near to Glasgow Central and Queen Street railway stations and Buchanan bus station.

An adult fare to the city centre is £3.30 single, £5.00 return, and journey time is about 25 minutes. Buses heading to the city centre have an airport logo on them.

Coach (chartered)

If you are meeting a chartered coach, you will probably be met by a representative from the coach in Arrivals. If there is no one there to meet your flight, head to the short stay coach park on Bute Road adjacent to International Arrivals. This is where all charter coaches pick up and drop off passengers.
