Oxfordshire is a beautiful English county with so much to see and do, you might not know where to start! But you’re in luck because we have narrowed it down with this list of things you just can’t miss...
Downton Abbey day trip
Ah, Downton Abbey. Don’t we all wish we could be Lady Mary, frolicking through the beautiful grounds of Highclere Castle (less than an hour from Oxford)? While we aren’t the first born to the Earl of Grantham, we can pretend for a day! When visiting Oxfordshire you can’t miss out on all the gorgeous sights Downton Abbey is filmed at, like the little village of Bampton which doubles as Downton Village.
Take a hot air balloon ride
The English countryside is some of the most beautiful in the world so why not see it from a bird’s eye view? A hot air balloon ride is a relaxing way to see a huge chunk of the rolling green hills and quaint villages at once. Once that champagne glass is put in your hand you’ll be wondering why you didn’t do it sooner!
Go on a brewery tour
While in Oxfordshire visit the Wychwood Brewery. They give a 2-hour tour that takes you step-by-step through the entire brewing process. Then of course afterwards you can sit back and enjoy a pint (or 2...).
Visit Blenheim Palace
Famously known as ‘Britain’s Greatest Palace’ Blenheim Palace is home to the 11th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough and was the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. The awe-inspiring palace has so much to offer, including a giant hedge maze and butterfly house, you’ll probably end up spending the entire day there.
Discover the city of Oxford
Of course when in Oxfordshire you can’t miss the city of Oxford. Tour the famous university, go shopping in nearby Bicester Village, or take a cycling tour. Whatever you do, don’t miss the city of dreaming spires.
