North York Moors National Park Experiences

It’s not just walkers and adventure seekers that are attracted to the North York Moors National Park. The seas around the crinkly coast are a playground for white-beaked dolphins and minke whales, not to mention seal colonies which loll beneath the coastal cliffs. And dinosaur footprints and fossils left by older natural residents’ hint at a life that thrived 160-million years ago. Climb the high hills, explore the wooded dales and delve into the history preserved in abbey ruins, gothic churches, medieval chapels and ancient stone crosses.

Magic of the North York Moors Heritage Railway

North York Moors Railway

You’ll experience the majestic landscape of the North York Moors on foot and by rail on this 4-hour experience.   Step back in time with a leisurely train journey on the North York Moors Railway, an iconic heritage steam railway linking the moors to the sea.  Your journey begins in the delightful village of Goathland, where you’ll share views across the moorland with local sheep happily grazing on the village green.  You’ll board your train at Goathland Station, featured as Hogsmeade Station in the original Harry Potter Film, after exploring the fully restored station platform with its tea room within a 1922 style goods shed.  Enjoy stunning views of the North York Moors National Park from your carriage before alighting at Grosmont, where you’ll enjoy behind the scenes access to witness the restoration work carried out by volunteers within the historic engine sheds.

The tour also takes you on a leisurely guided walk through ancient woodlands and valleys, by stunning waterfalls before visiting one of England’s quirkiest small pubs to sample a local refreshment.
