Borough Market, London, England
Sampling Britain’s best food market
There’s been a market here for over 1,000 years, although the food wasn’t always quite so good. Nowadays Borough Market is Britain’s most famous food market, a gourmet hub bursting at the seams with artisan food. Over 100 stands sell rare-breed meats, cheeses, fish, chocolate, olives, breads, cakes, ciders and vegetables from all over Britain and the world. You could almost fill up on the free samples but save room for the street food and eat your way around the world via Thailand, Egypt, Ethiopia, the Mediterranean, India, Argentina and Turkey, or choose from English corn on the cob, meat roasts, pies and Scotch eggs. It’s foodie ecstasy.
