Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, England
Exploring historic Blenheim Palace
Built in the early 18th century, Blenheim Palace is one of Britain’s grandest stately homes. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s home to one of Europe’s most impressive collections of paintings, and it was Winston Churchill’s birthplace. But it’s not just the interior of the Baroque Palace that will wow you. Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown (the landscape gardener responsible for shaping much of Britain into the romantic landscapes that we know and love today) re-designed Blenheim’s 2,000 acres of parkland between 1764 and 1774. He moved lakes, built bridges and arranged water cascades to create what is often called ‘the finest view in England’.
