Pride events across the UK 2017

Each year the streets of cities across Britain stream with rainbow colours and people march dressed to the nines in wigs, make up and outfits to make your eyes pop! Then it’s time to party ‘til dawn in fantastic clubs and bars. Here are some of this summer’s Pride parties you simply can’t miss:

Birmingham: 27-28 May 2017

Lesbian couple in Birmingham

The second largest city in England hosts its annual Pride and is a technicolour spectacular celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender culture. There’s the main stage, dance arena, cabaret marquee, women’s arena and a street party. This year, Basement Jaxx are a headline act on the main stage.

Edinburgh: 17 June 2017

Pride Edinburgh

Pride Edinburgh is a joyous one-day celebration in the capital of Scotland – a city that knows how to have fun. The main parade takes you through Edinburgh’s beautiful city centre, and events across the city represent the full spectrum of the LGBTQI community. Edinburgh has a vibrant gay scene and venues host events until late.

London: 8 July 2017

London Pride

The UK’s capital hosts one hell of a party in the summer; Pride in London is one of Europe’s largest non-ticketed events. The festival usually comes to a close with a sizzling carnival of colour of music, floats and dancing, drawing a huge crowd of spectators.

Bristol: Pride Festival runs 30 June-9 July, Pride parade Saturday 8 July 2017

Bristol Pride is a week-long LGBT festival that culminates in a massive outdoor music and arts festival in the city’s Castle Park. Kicking off with the Pride Parade through the city, the festival also features entertainment, funfair, stalls, bars and a Community Area hosting more than 60 organisations.

Hull: 22 July 2017

Hull Pride UK

Hull is the centre of attention this year as it relishes its position as 2017 Capital of Culture. And to add to the bill is UK Pride – the first national pride event. The week-long festival will begin on 22 July. While you’re there, see what else is happening in Hull.

Brighton and Hove: 4-6 August 2017

Brighton Pride festival

The UK’s biggest Pride festival, and often considered the best in the world, Brighton Pride attracts thousands of revellers. The main day sees a huge parade through the seaside city, culminating in a massive party in Preston Park with a main stage, dance tents and community ‘village’. And seafront road Marine Parade is closed to traffic for the duration in order for the fabulous Pride Village to pop up.

Pride Cymru (Wales): 25-27 August 2017

Pride Cymru, Cardiff, Wales

Pride Cymru (Welsh for Wales) takes place on Cooper’s Field in Wales’s capital Cardiff. Welsh and international pop acts perform on the main stage, and there’s a cabaret garden, funfair, cultural market with arts and crafts, and a family zone, and not forgetting the colourful parade through Cardiff city centre.

Manchester Pride: 25-28 August 2017

Manchester Pride

Manchester’s long-established gay village, centred on Canal Street, plays host to Manchester Pride. The month-long Fringe festival celebrates the diversity of LGBT life, including art, culture and sport. This leads to the ‘Big Weekend’ with a massive Pride Parade.
