You may have ridden on the London Eye, or rocketed to the top of the Shard on its high speed lift. But if you're after an even bigger sight-seeing thrill, then you won't rest until you've swept through the skies over London in a helicopter. Here's your chance. The London Helicopter takes visitors on flights over the capital so you can take in the sights from above and have a lot of fun doing it. I'd never been in a helicopter before - and I have to say, it's nothing like flying in a passenger airliner. It's almost unreal, hearing the rotorblades spin up, and then feeling it slowly lift from the ground, directly upwards, before leaning forwards and carrying you over the River Thames, Chelsea, and on towards Buckingham Palace. The thrill of seeing London in this way is unique, and as you recognise more and more of the famous sights - the Old Royal Naval College, the Houses of Parliament, the Millenium Dome, Tower Bridge: you get a great sense of how nicely compact central London really is. Flying up the River Thames, as merchant ships, kings' ceremonial barges, and naval vessels have done throughout the centuries makes you realise how central the river is to the city and its sights. This is the ideal trip to make either when you first arrive in London, or when you're just about to leave. Either use it as a way of getting an overview of the city (pun partially intended) before you set out on foot to explore, or to reminisice about the places you've seen during your stay. That's just my thinking of course, at any time it makes a fantastic thrill-seeker's ride over one of Britain's most exciting cities. Learn more and book your flights over at The London Helicopter.
