Stumbling across a sleeping giant at Heligan
The star attraction at the enticingly named Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall is a sleeping giant half covered by ivy and moss. You’ll stumble upon it on the Woodland Walk, which is haunted by hidden woodland sculptures. There are plenty of gems waiting to be unearthed throughout Heligan’s restored 19th-century botanical gardens. Venture across the Burmese rope bridge suspended above ancient tree ferns, get lost in the romantic paths of the Pleasure Gardens, and ingredients from the Productive Gardens in the Heligan Kitchen. You won’t find much fresher food than this – many ingredients travel just 144 metres from soil to plate!
