Losing yourself in the maze of Henry VIII’s Hampton Court Palace

 

Hampton Court Palace was Henry VIII’s favourite royal residence, and it’s easy to see why. Stand in awe in the Great Hall, one of England’s greatest medieval halls, and hung with Henry VIII’s prized tapestries. Shakespeare’s company even performed here. Take a moment to picture the staff preparing food for more than 600 people every day in Henry VIII’s Kitchens – quite the feat. Then get lost in the famous yew-hedge Maze. It dates from the 1700s and is now the only remaining part of the Wilderness gardens, where thick, tall hedges, tucked away benches and twisting paths meant members of the royal court could entertain ladies in privacy…
