North York Moors National Park

A place of extraordinary surprises rich in heritage and wildlife, from swathes of heather moorland and a glorious coastline, to dazzling dark skies.

The North York Moors has more to offer than you may think! High hills, deep wooded dales, crinkly coasts, ancient abbeys, tumbling streams and timeless villages – everything that’s great about England and perfect for walkers and cyclists. There are 3 Dark Skies Discovery Sites in the park, places where you are guaranteed to see the night sky like never before. There is no shortage of experiences for animal lovers here in the North York Moors. Depending on the time of year you can go whale watching and even spot dolphins and seals. There are large bird colonies where you will find puffins, buzzards, and razorbills. You can even go horseback riding through the park!

You can also experience the magic of the landscape on a journey aboard the park's heritage railway, as part of the English National Parks Experience Collection.
