We don’t know about you, but after the Tour de France came to England, we got in a bit of a bicycle buzz. The UK lends itself to cycling with fantastic scenery to explore. However, us Brits also like to quirk things up a bit, and for one weekend each year we don our best 1920s Tweed cloaks and knickerbockers to join in the Tweed Run. This social cycle through London’s historic streets is quite a spectacle: Cyclists on the London Tweed Run Participants can expect a day of leisurely riding in the company of fellow ladies and gentlemen exceptionally dressed in plus-fours, Harris tweed jackets, merino wool team jerseys, silk cravats, bow ties and flat caps. Attendees of the London Tweed Run If you’re lucky, you might even spot a penny farthing among other vintage bicycles. Cyclists on the London Tweed Run The Tweed Run has quickly gained international success, with The Times’ street style photographer, Bill Cunningham quoted as saying it was “re-inventing the catwalk” when it visited New York in 2011.
