Buckingham Palace with guards trooping the colour
Follow the route the Royal carriages will take on the way to Westminster Abbey. The Mall The Mall is the processional road that leads from Admiralty Arch to the Queen Victoria Memorial, in front of Buckingham Palace. Sunday is a great day to visit as it’s closed to cars, or of course, any day when there is a memorable royal occasion such as the Queen’s Jubilee, her birthday or indeed a royal wedding! 2 royal residences and 2 royal parks Walking up from Buckingham Palace along The Mall, you’ll pass the royal residences of Clarence House, and St James’s Palace, and between two Royal Parks – Green Park and St James’s Park. The bridge across the lake in St James’s Park is a brilliant viewpoint for photos of Buckingham Palace. Horse Guards Parade From the Mall, Kate’s car will turn into Horse Guards Parade on her way to the wedding. This is where you can see the annual Westminster Abbey ceremony celebrating the Queen’s birthday. Horse Guards Parade will also be the venue for the beach volleyball events at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms Tucked away in a fortified basement at one end of the Parade you’ll find the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms, which celebrates the life and work of one of Britain’s most famous prime ministers. Whitehall The road leading from Trafalgar Square to Parliament Square is Whitehall. It’s the heart of government with Downing Street (where the Prime Minister) leading off it, and government buildings lining both sides of the road. Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament Before reaching the Abbey, the car will approach one of London’s and indeed Britain’s most iconic sights, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament –home of the British parliament since 1265. Westminster Abbey Westminster Abbey London And finally, why not follow Kate down the aisle at Westminster Abbey. The abbey has been the setting for every Coronation since 1066 and for numerous other royal weddings and occasions.
