With summer days drawing to a close, it’s time to cast an eye towards some of Autumn’s crisp new offerings. From shoreside escapes in one of England’s vibrant gay capitals, to the local flavours of Scotland’s wild and rural lands. Get the scoop on where to stay for this year and beyond…

 

Just opened…

Royal Marine Hotel, Brora, Scotland

Reopened after refurbishment June 2022

On the edges of Scotland’s north eastern coastline, newly opened Royal Marine Hotel shines a light on the local area of Brora. With hand-crafted beds and complimentary Arran Sense of Scotland toiletries, there’s a local touch to every room. The Junior Suites offer expansive views out to sea and over the garden, and river. Accessible double and twin rooms are also available.

The on-site restaurant, The Curling Yard, serves up local flavours alongside a decadent dining experience. Guests can expect a menu that cooks up loch trout and Highland lamb, along with afternoon tea and hand-picked wines. Look to its location on the North Coast 500, for adventurous day trips or join the hotel’s Highland Activity Packages for guided bike rides, Highland tours and water sports.

 

The 55 by Le Mirage, Bayswater, London

Opened July 2022

Squeezed between two iconic London locations, Bayswater and Notting Hill, The 55 by Le Mirage is the place to be for Portobello Road, Hyde Park or Kensington Palace. Offering 55 luxury rooms and suites from standard doubles, family suites and accessible rooms, guests have access to an on-site juice bar and private outdoor terrace. Set inside a Georgian period property, each room brings a flare of modernity with a nod to history. All are equipped with a walk-in rain shower, smart TV, luxury toiletries and a tea and coffee station.

 

Fort Road Hotel, Margate

Opened August 2022

Paying homage to its artsy past as the acclaimed place that English artist, and Margate enthusiast, Turner laid his head on his first visit to the seaside town. Fort Road Hotel has been thoughtfully restored into a contemporary 14 room hotel. Injections of art fill the guest spaces, from Mexican tiling through the en-suite bathrooms, artwork from creators with close connection to the town, and corridors featuring vintage photos and postcards of Margate.

For a bite to eat, guests can look to the all-day dining restaurant, seating up to 35 diners the menu is inspired by late 19th and 20th century female food writers. While beneath the surface, guests can head to the 60-cover subterranean bar for drinks. But the real showstopper is the guest-only roof terrace, offering panoramic views of Margate, the sea and beyond.

W Edinburgh, Edinburgh

Opening Winter 2022

Bringing its world-renowned brand to Scotland for the first time, W Edinburgh is set to welcome guests to the city this year. Designed by award-winning architect Jestico + Whiles, W Edinburgh is located in the heart of the vibrant St James Quarter. Offering 214 stylish guestrooms, 20 suites and one Extreme Wow Suite, stretching across 12 storeys. Watch mixologists in their element at the destination bar and outdoor terrace on the rooftop or indulge in the AWAY Spa.

 

Mandarin Oriental, Mayfair

Opening Winter 2022

The newest hotel to join the award-winning collection, Mandarin Oriental is set to open its doors this winter. This Mayfair-based hotel will offer 28 rooms and 22 luxury suites all inspired by the local area’s history and surroundings. Guests can dine in style at the on-site restaurant. Curating and cooking up the menu the Michelin starred chef Akira Back brings in influences from his Korean heritage and love of Japanese food. From dipping into a relaxation room at the Spa, to sipping on cocktails in the lobby, Mandarin Oriental is set to be a hidden sanctuary in the heart of London.

 

Treehouse Hotel, Manchester

Opening Spring 2023

Getting ready to set its roots in Manchester next year, Treehouse Hotel will be the second venture in the UK, with a sister hotel already in London. Inspired by adventure and craft, the 206-bedroom hotel will offer vibrant rooms and two restaurants serving up menus curated by local chefs Mary-Ellen McTague and Sam Grainger. Head to the hideaway to explore a secret space, or take to the rooftop terrace for jaw-dropping citywide views.

The hotel forms part of a wider redevelopment, which will see retail and pop-up food and drink vendors spring up on Deansgate and on the banks of the River Irwell.

 

No.124 Kings Road, Brighton

Opening in 2023

Joining the ranks of its counterparts in Bath, York and soon to be Margate, No.124 Brighton Guesthouse is set to be a seaside lovers’ paradise. On the doorstep of the iconic pebbled beach, and on the fringes of the shopping quarter and pier, this part-Grade II Listed Georgian property will be elegantly restored to bring modernity, art and quirkiness to the city. Guests can wine and dine at the restaurant and bar which will also offer alfresco eating on its terrace, or choose to tuck into the help yourself pantries for a more intimate offering.
