The Fleece, Witney, Oxfordshire

Following a complete makeover of its ten guest bedrooms, The Fleece in Witney, Oxfordshire, has a distinctive new look to kick-off 2019. Owned by Oxfordshire’s Peach Pub Company, each of the Georgian building’s luxury rooms now has its own individual quirks and charm, while the inn is perfectly situated for exploring the magical delights of the Cotswolds or for a spot of shopping at nearby Bicester Village.

Supercity Aparthotels, Manchester

Aparthotel brand Supercity Aparthotels launched its first project in Manchester in early December, bringing understated elegance to Church Street in the city’s ever-bustling Northern Quarter. Each of the 68 hotel suites gives a bold nod to the region’s love for street art and marks Supercity’s first offering outside of London.

The Village Hotel Club, Bristol

Situated in Filton, on the northern edge of Bristol, the Village Hotel’s group opened its latest high tech offering in the run-up to Christmas. All 153 rooms at the Village Hotel Bristol feature a virtual concierge service run by Amazon Echo and Echo Dot, alongside an array of business and leisure facilities.

Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel

Following a contemporary overhaul, the Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel has mixed modern décor with its original marble and brass Victorian features. The 150-year old hotel features a stunning Palm Court, a Romanesque leisure centre and rooms that look out towards the spectacular Bristol Cathedral, as well as a Miller & Carter steakhouse restaurant and bar.

Fingal Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh

Luxury floating hotel, Fingal, from Royal Yacht Britannia, welcomed aboard its first guests in early January, offering a five-star 23-cabin boutique experience docked on Edinburgh’s vibrant waterfront. The former lighthouse tender has been transformed into an exquisite mix of suites, each named after famous lighthouses built by Scottish engineer Robert Stevenson, while guests can feast in a beautifully decorated dining space.

The Dixon, Tower Bridge

Just minute’s from London’s iconic Tower Bridge, The Dixon opened its doors in late December with a nod to the region’s vibrant cultural heritage. Part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, the boutique hotel’s 193 rooms, including 10 delightful suites, are nestled inside a Grade II listed former courthouse, named after original Edwardian architect John Dixon Butler. Each room has an edgy, wide-ranging vibe, with interiors that carefully match authentic original features with contemporary living.

Lincoln Plaza London Canary Wharf

Taking inspiration from London’s commercial and financial hub, the interior of Lincoln Plaza London Canary Wharf fuses classic and contemporary materials across its 129 rooms. Perfectly situated for accessing the ExCel London, the city or the vibrancy of Shoreditch, the newly-opened hotel features an 18-metre pool, sauna and more than 450 square metres of event spaces. Guests can eat at signature Pan-Indian restaurant Mr Todiwala’s Kitchen, get a taster for East London’s best delights at the Food Store Restaurant, Bar and Grocer, or enjoy a tipple at innovative cocktail bar Jack Speak.

Vintry & Mercer, City of London

Opening early February

Nested in the heart of the London, luxury boutique hotel Vintry & Mercer will take inspiration from the city’s historic trading guilds. A delightful roof terrace overlooks London’s iconic sights including St Paul’s Cathedral and The Shard, and the Vintry Kitchen downstairs will serve up an array of mouth-watering Asian tapas while basement bar Do Not Disturb’s retro glamour will be a throwback to 1920’s New York.

Biltmore, Mayfair

Opening in the spring

Overlooking Grosvenor Square in Mayfair, LXR Hotels and Resorts is set to open the brand’s first venture into the European market, following an agreement between Hilton and Millennium & Copthorne Hotels. The Biltmore, Mayfair will feature 257 luxurious guest rooms alongside 51 carefully curated suites that reflect the property’s history as a sophisticated and elegant private residence.

Belmond Cadogan, Kensington and Chelsea

Opening in early February

Having been closed for refurbishment since 2014, the doors of the Belmond Cadogan on Sloane Street will shortly reopen, featuring 54 elegant rooms and access to private gardens. Expect classic British charm with a modern twist, situated between the luxury-brands and high-end retailers in both Knightsbridge and Chelsea. The hotel has a rich and colourful history, having hosted Oscar Wilde and Lillie Langtry in days gone by, while the lavish interior will be home to 400 original pieces of artwork from an array of UK and international artists.

Inhabit London, Paddington

Opening in the summer

Set in six stunning Georgian Townhouses off a charming Paddington mews, the Inhabit Hotels brand will launch in the capital with Inhibit London. Guests can expect 90 picturesque guest rooms and peaceful communal areas that take design influences from Scandinavia and traditional British heritage – all designed to promote health and wellbeing.

Monkey Island Estate, Bray, Berkshire

Opening mid-February

Following an extensive restoration and renovation by YTL Hotels, the Monkey Island Estate in Berkshire features two Grade I listed pavilions, initially commissioned as a fishing retreat for the third Duke of Marlborough in 1723. In addition to seven acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and picturesque views of the River Thames, the estate’s 27 exquisite guestrooms and three suites were designed by award-winning New York-based Champalimaud Design, mixing countryside elegance with timeless glamour.

The Langley, Buckinghamshire

Opening in March

This grand country manor will house 41 stunning rooms, divided across the main house and The Brew House, a Grade II listed 18th-century outbuilding. Set in a former royal hunting ground, guests will be able to enjoy The Langley’s beautiful landscape gardens before relaxing in The Langley Spa, a wellness centre featuring an indoor and outdoor pool, numerous treatment rooms and a specially designed fitness suite from personal trainer and author, Matt Roberts.

Hotel Indigo Brighton

Opening in the spring

Just moments from the bohemian shops of North Laine and the main hub at Brighton Station, Hotel Indigo Brighton will feature 98 lavishly decorated boutique rooms, alongside a superior room offering with spectacular four-poster beds. The onsite restaurant and fitness suite will provide guests with the essentials for a stay in the heart of Brighton’s alternative district.

Aria Resorts, St Helens Coastal Resort, Isle of Wight

Opening in May

With its mix of spectacular lodges and luxury caravans, St Helens Coastal Resort from Aria Resorts is one of several new locations planned for the Isle of Wight. The highly sophisticated three bedroom premium lodges will come with hot tubs and roof terraces, with a licensed eatery and pool among the facilities on offer, alongside easy access to iconic beauty spots including Priory Bay beach and The Duver.

 

South west England

Artist Residence Bristol

Opening in March

Arty micro chain Artist Residence is set to open its fifth hotel in a former boot factory in Bristol’s Portland Square, nestled between St Pauls and the Cabot Circus shopping centre in the heart of the city. An eclectic mix of art and vintage, the new venue includes 28 quirky bedrooms alongside a café, bar and events space.

 

Northern England

Hampton by Hilton, Leeds

Opening in 2019

The 14 storey, 192-room Hampton by Hilton Leeds will open its doors in 2019, featuring contemporary décor and an abundance of conference spaces, meeting rooms and essential amenities.

Wesley Hotel, Leeds

Opening in 2019

The Wesley Hotel will see the superb Grade II listed Oxford Place Methodist Church transformed into a 70-bedroom establishment, although it will maintain a space for religious use.
