Britain is getting set to welcome a vast array of new accommodation options, giving those dreaming of a trip away something to look forward to in 2021 and beyond. From walking in the footsteps of royalty within castle walls to experiencing incredible luxury in the heart of London, here’s a peek at what visitors to Britain can expect in the coming months.

 

Recently opened

The Coniston Inn, Lake District

Having reopened in the summer following a multi-million-pound redesign, The Coniston Inn features 42 bedrooms in the heart of the Lake District, with direct access to Coniston Water via a private jetty. Each en-suite room has the Inn Collection Group’s signature tartan carpets and comes complete with a rechargeable lantern for guests wanting to enjoy an evening stroll. Four acres of gardens back onto the water at the family and dog-friendly inn, with the refurbishment including a sleek open-plan bar and dining area, as well drying areas for clothing, boots and outdoor equipment – ideal for those looking to explore all that the Cumbrian landscape has to offer.

 

Headland Hotel, Cornwall – Aqua Club

The five-star Headland Hotel in Cornwall has opened the doors to its brand new multi-million-pound swimming and wellness space, The Aqua Club. Overlooking Fistral Beach, near Newquay, the impressive facilities include three indoor and three outdoor pools, including ones dedicated especially to children and for those with mobility issues. The venue also features a sun terrace with exceptional views out over the Atlantic Ocean, a heated sunset spa and a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, called The Deck. Offering a range of luxurious suites and contemporary rooms for guests, access to the Aqua Club is included with any stay at the hotel or its self-catering cottages.

 

The Clock Tower at Bamburgh Castle

Guests can make the famous walls of Bamburgh Castle their home with a stay at The Clock Tower, an apartment built into the 13th century tower and turret of the castle walls. Offering striking views over some of Northumberland’s most resplendent scenery and with exclusive access to the castle grounds, as well as the state rooms when the castle is open, the quirky three-bedroom accommodation offers a delightful mix of antique furniture, stylish heritage décor and the latest modern appliances. In addition to the regal king-size master bedroom and en-suite shower room, the second floor offers open-plan living and breathtaking vistas in multiple directions, while two further bedrooms mean the apartment can sleep up to five people.

The Mayfair Townhouse, London

Opening December 2020

Combining luxury with individuality on a grand scale, The Mayfair Townhouse is a unique addition to the capital’s hotel scene. Comprised of 15 Georgian Townhouses in a prized location just moments from Green Park, this fairy-tale oasis features four elegant accommodation options ranging from stylish rooms to luxurious multi-room options, including the Two-Bedroom Garden Suite, a flora-themed retreat that comes complete with a secret private patio. Nobu Hotel London Portman Square, London

Opening December 2020

The new Nobu Hotel – one of several new openings from the brand – will be unveiled in the heart of Marylebone this December. With 249 guest rooms and suites, together with a Nobu restaurant, ballroom and meeting spaces, the hotel offers guests a luxurious escape in the heart of London, all in the brand’s signature minimalist Japanese style.

 

The Carlton Tower, London

Opening December 2020

Following an incredible £100m renovation, The Carlton Tower Jumeirah will re-open in December 2020 in the chic heart of Knightsbridge.  Offering a choice of luxurious rooms and suites, many of which feature private balconies with staggering views across the capital, the hotel also boasts a range of five-star facilities. These include access to Cadogan Gardens, a private city garden with adjoining tennis courts, a new ‘destination’ bar and restaurant featuring an immersive theatre kitchen, and the Chinoiserie, an all-day bar and lounge. Guests can also look forward to relaxing at the world-renowned Peak Fitness Club & Spa. Covering three floors, the opulent wellness sanctuary features a new Talise Spa and a 20m swimming pool with glass ceiling, for iconic city views.

 

Leopard Creek at the Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve, Kent

Opening 1 April 2021

Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve has unveiled plans for the opening of Leopard Creek, the 600-acre Kent wildlife reserve’s fourteenth accommodation to date. Situated in the heart of the reserve amid glorious gardens and with staggering vistas of the surrounding coastline, the luxury accommodation will also give guests up-close views of the resident wildlife – two rare Amur leopards and a pair of white rhinos! Featuring a choice of accommodations, guests can choose from two charming cub huts for couples, three elegant cabins (suitable for families of two adults and two children) or two stylish luxury wigwams with space for four adults.

 

Sustainability Centre, South Downs Eco Lodge

Opening spring 2021

The eagerly anticipated renovation of the Sustainability Centre’s South Downs Eco Lodge will see the transformation of the former Ministry of Defence building into a welcoming accommodation with sustainability at its heart. The new expansion will feature 12 comfortable en-suite rooms, an accessible room purpose built for wheelchair users, a specially designed kitchen and a combined breakfast and living room. The site will also feature a vegan/vegetarian café offering guests a range of tempting organic treats throughout the day.

 

Graduate Hotels, Cambridge and Oxford

Opening spring 2021

Having announced their first developments outside of the USA, Graduate Hotels look set to bring a taste of school-house chic to the university cities of Cambridge and Oxford come spring 2021. Inspired by the culture and creativity of Cambridge University and its world-renowned former alumni, the 148-room Graduate Cambridge will be nestled on the banks of the tranquil River Cam, just a stone’s throw from several of the University’s lauded Colleges. Housed within the former Doubletree by Hilton Cambridge City Centre, the interior will be the subject of a complete redesign, bringing the rooms, fitness club, pool and common spaces to life with Graduate Hotels’ signature collegiate charm. Guests can also look forward to savouring the delights of Poindexter, the hotel group’s cosy café and dining chain, in addition to a stylish hotel restaurant.

Located just moments from the renowned Radcliffe Camera and Ashmolean Museum, in addition to the buzzing bars and restaurants of St Giles Street, the Graduate Oxford will be an ideal base from which to discover the City of Dreaming Spires. Located in the former Macdonald Randolph Hotel, the accommodation will feature 151 rooms brought to life with bold colours and textures inspired by the region’s rich history and artistry.
