Where do you see beauty in Britain? In a Van Gogh hanging in the National Gallery? In the awe-inspiring landscapes of the Highlands? In the majestic façade of Carmarthen Castle? …or perhaps, like Mercury award-winning musician Dizzee Rascal, in the local barber shop?

Platinum-selling record artist Dizzee Rascal has a passion for more than music. He’s inspired by the world around him, by Britain, by photography and by playing with conventional perceptions of beauty. Now Dizzee takes us on a journey around Britain through photographs he’s taken of places that have inspired him through his early life to today. He grew up in the East End of London, so he revisits some of his old haunts, including a school where he met an inspiring music teacher, to a street in Bow where he painted his first mural, both of which helped to start his creative journey.

He also visits the London 2012 Olympic Stadium, where he’ll be ambassador for the East End, as well some of his favourite music spots from festival sites to clubs. His journey also takes him to unexpected places, such as the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and a carp lake in Dorking where he likes to escape and go fishing.

Dizzee says, “Beauty doesn’t have to be about traditionally accepted perceptions; it can be anything from memories to ideas - beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It’s important for everyone to be inspired by what’s around them, so this is a great opportunity to visualise what you see as beautiful about Britain.”
