Chester Racecourse

Chester Racecourse boasts 35 separate facilities, accommodating anything from two to 2,000 people, offering flexibility and a choice of meeting spaces for conferencing and corporate events.

  • Built in honour of Chester Racecourse’s former chairman, Lord Leverhulme, the main stand is arranged over three floors and has spectacular views over the whole racecourse. The ground floor of the Leverhulme Stand is an ideal conference venue for up to 200 delegates, whilst the first and second floors offer stylishly decorated private boxes for between 10 and 80 guests. 
  • Five Paddock Rooms overlooking the Parade Ring offer a fresh environment with floor-to-ceiling windows and patio access. By removing the partitions between each room, up to 80 diners or 120 buffet guests can be accommodated.
  • An on-site Holiday Inn Express hotel has 97 en-suite bedrooms.
  • The County Stand provides four areas of event spaces, including the Concourse Room for up to 550 people and 15 syndicate rooms catering for between 10 and 50 delegates.

University of Chester

University of Chester, Chester, England

The University of Chester has several campuses within Chester city centre, available for meetings and events. 

  • With nearly 200 meeting rooms, the university can provide a number of options to suit your individual conference requirements, from lecture theatres seating 310 to meeting rooms for one-to-ones. 
  • The main campus is the Chester Campus. It has a 300-seat auditorium in the Binks building and a 310-seat lecture theatre in the Molloy building.
  • Queens Park Campus is the newest addition to the university on the south side of the city. It offers a large number of meeting and seminar rooms, plus lecture theatres and a boardroom with views out over the river Dee. 
  • The Riverside Campus is also located to the south side of the city within a 20-minute walk of the main campus. It has a 192-seat lecture theatre and 15 seminar rooms with capacities for up to 50 delegates.

The Mere Golf Resort

The Mere Golf Resort & Spa

The 18-hole, par-71 course at The Mere in Knutsford was designed by James Braid, and created out of 150-acres of Cheshire parkland in 1934. Today, planners can choose from six meeting and event spaces, each with unique touches.

  • For large meetings, conferences or events, the 700-capacity James Braid Suite has its own entrance and offers flexible layouts, plus separate break-out rooms and dining areas.
  • The Mere Suite, part of the larger James Braid Suite, can be used as a self-contained unit, making it ideal for smaller events or meetings for up to 150 people. It offers private bar facilities with access to its own veranda with views overlooking the putting green and Mere Lake. 
  • For up to 200 delegates, the contemporary George Duncan Suite boasts of a separate bar and lounge area, plus a connecting syndicate room.
  • The Riley Room is perfect for private dinners and intimate events with catering for up to 60 people. It features a permanent display of 60 unique pieces of artwork from local artist Harold Riley.

Peckforton Castle

Within the medieval walls of Peckforton Castle in Tarporley, rich history and new technology combine seamlessly to offer state-of-the-art conference facilities.

  • Peckforton Castle offers 48 luxury bedrooms. 
  • The Great Hall is a magnificent room leading off from the Long Gallery with a capacity for 100 attendees. With a built-in stage area at the head of the room, the Great Hall is ideal for presentations and seminars. The Minstrels Gallery is an ideal vantage point from which to project onto the hall’s 10-metre high walls. 
  • The Hexagonal room was the main setting for the 1991 film, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, staring Kevin Costner and can seat 100 theatre-style.
