Situated right at the heart of the UK, Coventry and Warwickshire is superbly linked to all the major towns and cities around the country.


Birmingham International Airport provides the nearest public passenger terminal for Coventry and Warwickshire. Each year, 13 million passengers arrive at Birmingham International Airport from 143 international destinations with 50 different airlines. The airport is a 20-minute drive from Coventry. It's a base for Flybe, Monarch, Ryanair, Thomas Cook Airlines and Thomson Airways.


Coventry is on the West Coast Main Line with regular services linking it with other major UK towns and cities. Trains operate every 20 minutes on average to London, which is only an hour away. Birmingham is only 20 minutes by train. There is also an extensive timetable of local trains linking Coventry to local towns, such as Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwick, Royal Leamington Spa and Rugby. 


With easy access to the national motorway network, arriving by road could not be easier. The M6, M6 Toll, M40, M42, M5, M69 and the A45/A46 are the major arterial routes out of and into Coventry and regional Warwickshire, as well as linking central Birmingham, which is only 20 minutes by car from the centre of Coventry.



Coventry and Warwickshire is home to 1,500 automotive businesses, with 16 of the top 20 global first tier suppliers located within the area. The automotive industry employs 34,000 people directly in the region - 500% more than the UK average. Car manufacturing brands such as Aston Martin Lagonda and Jaguar Land Rover combine with world-class universities and research facilities with a strong focus on pioneering advances in manufacturing and engineering.

Coventry and Warwickshire is at the forefront of driverless technology and low carbon technologies. The region is home to a number of businesses operating in electric, electric hybrid, fuel cells and hydrogen power systems. It also has more than 300 kilometres of inner city, suburban and rural roads from Coventry to Birmingham, on which autonomous vehicle performance, in a wide range of real-world locations and situations, are assessed by the University of Warwick

This Midlands Future Mobility route has been developed by TFWM in collaboration with Coventry City Council, Birmingham City Council and Solihull Council.



Aerospace businesses based in Coventry and Warwickshire play a major part in the industry’s global supply chain. They are supported by world-class innovation and R&D facilities such as The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry. 

The area is also home to the Midlands Aerospace Alliance (MAA), which is the largest aerospace cluster in Europe. Locally, a number of aerospace organisations work together collaboratively through the Coventry & Warwickshire Aerospace Forum (CWAF) to develop opportunities and open up new markets.
