Take a trip to the Royal Ascot, one of the social highlights of the year
Held over five days, the Royal Ascot is the one of the social highlights of the year. Located close to Windsor Castle, an hour by train from London, Queen Elizabeth II attends each year to cheer on her horses. First founded in 1711 by Queen Anne, the Royal Ascot is now an elegant event with strict dress codes to adhere to. Morning dress (a grey or black tail coat and top hat) is required of men in the Royal Enclosure, and women are expected to wear a hat and a dress that reaches the knee. Ladies Day on the Wednesday sees the most outrageous hats and glamorous outfits.
