Accommodation update – March 2023
As spring starts to set in, look out for Britain’s equally blooming accommodation scene. Delve into ancient woodlands dotted with hidden luxury treehouses, or step into a creative space as five unique interior artists make their mark in London’s Knightsbridge. Wherever the adventure goes, here’s the latest additions to Britain’s list of places to stay.

TreeDwellers, the Cotswolds
Opened first phase early 2023
A sanctuary within the ancient woodlands of Cornbury Estate in the Cotswolds, discover TreeDwellers – a nest of seven eco treehouses. The hybrid mix of a self-catering and boutique hotel offers guests the chance to immerse themselves in nature. Expect natural interiors which sympathetically blend into the surrounding forest, alongside luxury products, super-king beds, rolltop bathtubs and warming woodburning fires. Upon arrival, guests will be treated to a complimentary hamper filled with produce from the Cotswolds and Oxfordshire, while an in-treehouse tablet connects visitors to local shops, experiences and activities. Guests can delve into the powers of nature across five treehouses that sleep up to three people, or two treehouses that sleep up to five people.

The Barnsdale, Rutland
Re-opening March 2023
Since closing its doors in December 2022, The Barnsdale in Oakham, Rutland, is set to open in March following an extensive refurbishment. As the latest addition to The Signet Collection, the four-star boutique hotel houses 46 en-suite bedrooms, a fine-dining restaurant, conservatory, courtyard, croquet lawns and beauty salon, spread across 30 acres of land. Guests can expect a quirky British design that blends old and new, with rolltop baths, warm colours and playful textures. For a bite to eat, the 1760 Brasserie provides contemporary dining and afternoon teas, or head to The Orangery and Courtyard for lighter dishes.
Ellenborough Park Hotel, Gloucestershire
Re-opening March 2023
Following an extensive refurbishment project, Ellenborough Park Hotel will welcome guests from March 2023. The five-star country house hotel first opened in 2010 and its latest renovation will see all 61 rooms sensitively transformed. South-African born designer Ilze Reinke is overseeing the redesign, bringing in elements of modernity that complement the unique historic nature of each room. Guests can expect chic fabrics, roll-top baths and four poster Hypnos beds, adding to the hotel’s modern, yet timeless charm. Additionally, the renovation introduces tartan flooring and countryside tweeds to The Horsebox, Ellenborough Park’s onsite brasserie. Alongside a luxurious overnight stay, guests can relax in the intimate spa, dine under a sparkling chandelier at the restaurant, or get into the races at the Cheltenham Festival, which occurs every March.
The Bracken Hide, Isle of Skye
Opening March 2023
Step into the wilderness on Scotland’s magical Isle of Skye, with a stay at The Bracken Hide. Located in the Inner Hebrides, and set among soaring seascapes, all 45 cabins at this luxury four-star resort hotel boast Scottish Harris Tweed headboards and decks, natural interior hues and complete privacy. There are also dog-friendly and accessible cabins available. Outside, the resort offers refreshing wild swimming, an Estonian-style sauna, and adrenaline-fuelled activities from kayaking to coasteering in partnership with Skye Adventures. Inside, you’ll find a cinema room and whisky bar. For a bite to eat, look to Fraser’s restaurant. Cooking up a seasonal everchanging menu, the dishes celebrate the bounty of the Isle of Skye, serving up locally sourced meats and fish.

Beamish, The Living Museum of the North, County Durham
Opening summer 2023
For the first time in its history, guests will soon be able to stay overnight at Beamish, The Living Museum of the North. As part of the museum’s largest development project to date, Remaking Beamish, visitors can sleep within its authentic Georgian cottages. The plans include two, two-bed holiday lets that sleep up to six people, alongside three additional lets that are found within Flint Mill and Pockerley Farm. Guests can expect original historic features and Georgian inspired food and drink at Drover’s tavern. Remaking Beamish will also see more than 25 new exhibits and attractions open at the museum, including an immersive recreation of a 1950s town and farm.
The Hobson, Cambridge
Opening summer 2023
Transforming what once was a Victorian police station and jail, The Hobson is due to open its doors to guests in Cambridge this summer. From the Rogue City Hotel Group, The Hobson will house 56 luxury suites, a meeting space and an atrium-style restaurant. Paying homage to its heritage, the hotel is named after the Elizabethan philanthropist Thomas Hobson and promises an alternative stay in the city. Inside, suites will be equipped with Rogue City’s signature mini-kitchens, handcrafted beds and large walk-in showers. Expect sleek designs, modern interiors and plenty of choices to explore Cambridge with bars, restaurants and shopping, all just a short walk away.
The Emory, London
Opening winter 2023
Representing one of Maybourne Hotel Group’s latest ventures, The Emory is set to welcome guests from late 2023. Adding to their ever-growing portfolio, The Emory will be the group’s fourth hotel in London and joins the ranks of Claridge’s, The Connaught and The Berkeley. Located in Knightsbridge, the nine-storey hotel will be laced with unique details. Five floors will be designed by different interior artists, including Alexandra Champalimaud and Pierre-Yves Rochon, with each adding their personal creative flair across 60 suites. The hotel will also house a luxury penthouse suite, designed by London-based luxury architects and interior designers, Rigby & Rigby. An exclusive rooftop space and lower ground pool will be available to guests, while the ‘ABC’ restaurant, headed up by French chef Jean-George Vongerichten, will serve fresh and local cuisine for the first time in London. The concept restaurant has already tasted success in Manhattan.
