When I decided to make a short trip to London, I wanted to make the most of it. I was going on a mission to cross London for a mini-chocolate trip and meeting up with some lovely people. Only problem, London is big and everyone is based in a different part of London. Solution: the Tube. I`ll admit, when I go to a city, I prefer walking, it`s my favourite way to see a place. Because you can really feel the vibe in the streets, get lost & wander and stumble upon those hidden places you would miss out when taking public transportation. But when you`re short on time, the Tube is very convenient! I`ve always been accompanied by others while in London, so this was my first time alone on the Tube. Bit of an adventure to criss cross through London and trying to get to meetups on time. I was very lucky to have @AboutLondon as my host before wandering off alone into London`s underground. She`s a real expert and gave me some notes with directions. My advice would be if it`s your first time using the Tube, go to the journeyplanner online or take a Tube map of London and have a good look at it. It`s not that hard, once you see where the lines are going and which ones you need. Make sure you know if you`re going North or Southbound and what the end station is for the line you`re taking, so you`re taking it in the right direction. Remember sometimes it takes you a bit of time if you have to changes lines. Don`t run for a ride, because there are trains every couple of minutes and you want to make sure you have the right one! I must have looked like I knew where I was going, because someone even asked me for directions. Quick Tips: Check your journey online Check fares If you`re visiting for the day, you might want to consider buying a DayPass. I paid for a DayPass Off-Peak: 6,60 £, cash a Single ticket would have cost me 4 £. If you come to London regularly, then you are better of bying an Oyster Card. You pay 5 £ as a deposit when you buy it and then you top it up with credit. Oyster Cards give you a discount on every ride. More info on the Oyster Card.
