Walking in Hertfordshire

Wednesday 11 November 2015

On my trip to St Albans last autumn, I was lucky to have a guide take us through the lovely countryside of Hertfordshire. Hertfordshire Hertfordshire Working up an appetite, you can always go for a meal in a traditional pub. When I was there it was a Sunday, so that meant I could go for a Sunday roast. What`s this you might ask? (As I did the same) It`s a traditional British main meal served on Sundays usually at lunch, consisting of roasted meat, roast potato and vegetables. On Sundays it`s still tradition to eat with the family, but you do it at a local pub or restaurant, who usually offer a Sunday menu. After a nice lunch I headed to the Whipsnade Tree Cathedral. I didn`t really know what to expect... was it a cathedral built in a tree or a cathedral with lots of trees around it? Well, actually it`s a bunch of trees built in the shape of a cathedral. It was created after the First World War in a spirit of 'faith, hope and reconciliation'. Hertfordshire Hertfordshire It was a great day outside and it`s only a 30 minutes’ drive from St Albans. The autumn colors made it an even more beautiful walk! This post first appeared on Isabelle`s Travel Guide. PhotoCredits: Isabelle`s Travel Guide.
