From climbing aboard a real warship hurtling to down a 178m long slide, London is packed with fun activities that will keep the whole family entertained.


1. Royal Museums Greenwich

The National Maritime Museum is a fantastic introduction to the most famous stories in Britain’s maritime history. Elsewhere, the Christopher Wren-designed Old Royal Naval College is home to a state-of-the-art Visitor Centre, which covers 500 years of history. The real gem in Greenwich is the Cutty Sark, the fastest sailing ship of her day when she was launched in 1869.


2. HMS Belfast

HMS Belfast is a historic Royal Navy warship and now a floating museum. Discover what life was like on board during the Second World War, and get hands on with the Gun Turret Experience! Kids will love being on board a real warship.


3. London Transport Museum

Explore the history of London through its trains, buses, trams and taxis – London Transport Museum has 20 vehicles on display in Covent Garden, some of which you can climb aboard! Learn about how the tube was conceived and built, and see how things have changed over the last few centuries.

4.Take to the skies

London is home to hundreds of famous landmarks and what better way to view them than from the air? Take a helicopter tour of the capital and see all of its incredible attractions, architecture and green spaces from 1,000 feet in the air. The view will thrill big and little kids alike!

5. V&A Museum of Childhood

Kids will love the Museum of Childhood’s vast collection of toys. From Lego to dolls’ houses, traditional games and vintage action figures, there’s plenty to see and learn about. The museum also hosts fun interactive events.


6. The South Bank

Fairground rides, street performers, live music and of course, the London Eye, Shrek’s Adventure, the London Dungeons, Sea Life London Aquarium ! The Southbank is a great place for families to take in the bustle of London and have a whole day of fun.


7. Experience Hyde Park from horseback

Follow in the hoof prints of King Henry VIII and canter through Hyde Park on horseback. A popular hunting ground during Tudor times, the park has two designated bridleways so you can experience the thrills of being on horseback in central London. Ross Nye Stables located near the north side Hyde Park caters for experienced riders and complete beginners so grab your hat and riding boots and giddy-up!

8. The Slide at the ArcelorMittal Orbit

Head to London’s Olympic Park and ride the world’s highest and longest tunnel slide! You’ll whizz 178m down from the top of the ArcelorMittal Orbit in 40 secs so take in the panoramic views of London on your way up!


9.Go skiing

OK, so it’s not technically in London, but being so close to the capital, this activity deserves to be on the list. Perfect your skiing and snowboarding at The Snow Centre, indoor ski centre in Hemel Hempstead. Only a 30-minute train ride away from London, you can practice on the lesson slopes before whizzing down the 160 metre main slope. From group lessons to personal one-on-ones, experience the magic of skiing without setting foot outside.
