Trafalgar Square Christmas tree

You know Christmas in London is well on the way when the enormous Christmas tree goes up in Trafalgar Square! This year, the lighting ceremony will take place on Thursday 5 December. The tree has been given to London by Norway every year since 1947 as a gesture of thanks for the UK’s help during World War 2. The stately Norwegian spruce is 20 metres high and 50-60 years old.
