e-luminate Cambridge Festival
The e-luminate Cambridge Festival each February transforms the city’s medieval architecture with light art installations over 6 magical evenings. This modern arts festival aims to help visitors discover Cambridge via installations, talks, family activities and concerts.
See inside some of the usually off-limits parts of Cambridge buildings, from historic university colleges to the main galleries of the Fitzwilliam Museum, and backstage at the Amateur Dramatics Centre. You can also take some great guided walks and discover some lesser known facts about the city.
Kings College Chapel Evensong
Choral evensong is held every evening during university term time, and it’s a magical way to experience the atmosphere of Cambridge through traditional choir singing, in the impressive setting of King’s College Chapel.
Picnic by the river
Pick up some local delicacies at the Sunday farmers market and enjoy a picnic beside the Mill Pond. You can watch the punts go by and take in the beautiful architecture of nearby Darwin College.
Walk to Grantchester
Take a walk along the River Cam, through Grantchester Meadows and on into the countryside until you reach the beautiful village of Grantchester. If you need refreshment, you can stop into the Orchard Tea Garden. You can do the same journey by punt, but doing it on foot is free!
