Beaumaris Castle

Beaumaris Castle is an impressive Welsh fortress located on the island of Anglesey with a superb position looking out across the Menai Strait. Plans to construct this commanding castle began in 1295 and it is known as the greatest castle never built. It is the largest and final castle Edward I, and his architect James of St George, built to cement his power in Wales. It's one of the world’s best examples of medieval castle architecture.
