The Liverpool docks are a World Heritage Site, and the ideal place to discover the city’s seafaring past. The Merseyside Maritime Museum and International Slavery Museum are both excellent and free. You can also travel back in time with a ride on the dock’s Victorian Carousel, perfect to round-up a family day out.

Head up to St James’ Mount to see Liverpool’s sacred side. Britain’s biggest cathedral is an inspiring place for some quiet reflection. Climb up the tower for incredible views across the city. Every Thursday from March to October, the cathedral has Twilight Thursdays where you can enjoy panoramic views of the city while the sun sets!

If you can get tickets in advance, you’ll love the atmosphere of a home game. If you can't catch a game, both teams offer stadium tours that give you a behind-the-scenes look into these beloved teams!

Venture out to Crosby Beach for a truly moving and one-of-a-kind experience. Stretching nearly 1km out to sea you’ll find 100 cast iron sculptures of artist Antony Gormley. Each trip to his Another Place installation is unique, depending on the tidal flow and how submerged the sculptures are. Visitors have even dressed some of the sculptures closer to land in pants and woolly jumpers!
