Britain Insider: Jessie J reveals what she really loves about London

Friday 27 October 2017

Jessie J may have her stilettos planted firmly on Hollywood’s A-list, but her heart is still most definitely in Britain. So much so, that she even misses the weather – rainy days and all. In today’s Britain Insiders interview, the born-and-bred Londoner shares the foods that make her nostalgic, her dream musical duet, and the most surreal—and quintessentially British—moment of her life.

What do you miss most about living in London?

My mom and dad, my niece and nephews, my sisters, my friends, driving, the food – pie and mash, a roast dinner – classic English television, people being miserable, angry people, and rain.

What was it like performing for the Queen?

It was amazing. I remember being so nervous, and I remember going on stage and starting to sing “Domino,” and trying to look for my family. I knew they were near the Queen, so I started performing and I literally looked straight at my whole family sitting in a row near the Queen and it was just the most surreal moment. I felt very lucky to be someone who was representing the UK in a moment like that.

What British artist, dead or alive, would you like to collaborate with most?

Wow. I don’t know! The Beatles? Yeah, I’d do a duet with the Beatles. Classic.

Where is your favorite place to get away from it all in Britain?

My mum’s house. I’m not telling you where or else everyone would know where it is – and then it isn’t going to be a place that no one knows.
