Masterchefs

England is a nation of food lovers, which is why it creates (and attracts!) so many chefs.

Ella Woodward, London

Deliciously Ella’ is all about getting the best out of natural ingredients. Her healthy, wheat and refined sugar-free recipes have helped people from all over the world live healthier lives. Her blog receives around 2.5 million hits a month, and it’s this popularity that propelled her first cookbook, Deliciously Ella, into becoming the fastest selling debut cookbook of all time. Any Deliciously devotees in London can stop by her two bistros – The MaE Deli in Marylebone and The MaE in Mayfair.

April Bloomfield, Cornwall

The peaceful village of Lewannick is the perfect location for Coombeshead Farm, the latest project from Tom Adams and April Bloomfield. Though the farm was designed as a peaceful hotel retreat away from civilisation, the food is so good that it’s worth making the trip for a dinner only reservation.

Raymond Blanc, Oxfordshire

King of Cuisine Raymond Blanc left his native France for England’s shores after being fired from his first restaurant job. Famously, Blanc, then a young waiter, was dismissed for offering advice to the head chef. Blanc went on to earn two Michelin stars. Check out the Raymond Blanc Cookery school in Oxfordshire – the one day dinner party course is a great chance to learn from one of the best.

Adam Stokes, Birmingham

Originally a small pop-up restaurant, Adam’s is now housed in the three-storey New Oxford House. The larger building has led to the creation of one of the restaurant’s most interesting elements: The Chef’s Table, where up to 12 guests dine within the kitchen environment, and sample an exclusive tasting menu put together by Adam himself.

Tom Kerridge, Buckinghamshire

Even in a country famous for its pubs, Tom Kerridge’s The Hand & Flowers stands out – it’s the only pub to have been awarded two Michelin stars. Kerridge launched the restaurant with the idea of creating a place he would like to eat at on his days off.
