Late-night bars

If you just don't want the party to stop, head to one of these great late-night bars for cocktails, dancing and bedtime beating good times. And if you need some food after hours then check out some of London’s great late-night cafes and restaurants.

The Social, Central London

Just north of Oxford Street, The Social is a real find right in the centre of London. Started by a record company frustrated by the lack of decent venues in the area, it has two floors of excellent music and regularly hosts live bands. Go on Thursdays for their infamous hip-hop karaoke night where rap fantasies become rhyming reality. Open late most nights.

Lost society, South London

Stylish, sophisticated and with a killer cocktail menu, Lost Society has six rooms and a secret, secluded garden. It joins art deco detail with more contemporary styles to create a decadent speakeasy vibe and is open late past 12 all week.

Dalston Jazz bar, East London

Dalston has become the destination of choice for discerning late-night Londoners and the eclectic music (rarely jazz) at the ate-night Dalston Jazz Bar pleases all comers. Add cheap cocktails and a relaxed, bohemian atmosphere with a random crowd and you’ve got a late-night party worth having.

Charlie Wright’s, East London

Charlie Wright's has a 4am licence and hosts some of the biggest names in live jazz. Gigs don’t usually start until 10pm and dancing continues into the small hours.

Ruby and Sequoia, West London

Just off Portobello in the famous Notting Hill area, Ruby and Sequoia is open until 2am at weekends. It serves cocktails to a crowd of chic West London drinkers who bring a classy feel to this cool basement bar.

Harlem, West London

Head to this late-night American-themed joint for New York-style food served late and a basement bar with DJs playing until 2.30am from Thursday to Saturday. If you fancy going along in the morning, Harlem also do a fantastic brunch.

Late-night restaurants

When you just can't dance anymore, head to one of these great late-night restaurants to refuel. Whether you fancy scrambled eggs and caviar or a simple bagel, you'll find it at one of our favourite late-night restaurants.

Momo, Central London

This glamorous Moroccan restaurant has funky décor, excellent music and some of the best food this side of Marrakech. Expect classic dishes like lamb tagine with couscous done to absolute perfection. Momo takes last orders for food at 11.30pm.

Bar Italia, Central London

Bar Italia, known for its proper Italian coffee, has been a fixture in Soho for more than half a century. It's only small, but you'll find a cosmopolitan crowd of Soho regulars sampling the coffee and paninis into the small hours.

Tinseltown, East London

If a burger and fries is exactly what you need after a long night, look no further than Tinseltown for a classic American diner experience. Wash down delicious burgers, wraps, salads and wings with one of their superb milkshakes.

Brick Lane Beigel Bake, East London

Brick Lane Beigel Bake is an East End institution. It has been open for 30 years, and is famous for its delicious, fresh bagels. Both the meaty salt beef bagel, and cream cheese bagel have a reputation second to none.
