‘The Most Beautiful Festival in the World’
Known as 'The Most Beautiful Festival in the World' because of its jaw-dropping location, RockNess on the banks of Loch Ness (do you see what they've done there?) in Scotland, is one of the UK's best music festivals. This year's event takes place from 11-14 June 2010.
Even without these music megastars, the location itself is enough to make you stick on your festival wellies, pack your tent and head to RockNess. Surrounded wild mountains and glens, Loch Ness is the largest lake in Scotland containing more fresh water than all lakes in England and Wales combined! But of course, it’s most famous for its illusive inhabitant, the Loch Ness Monster, known locally as “Nessie”.
Top UK radio station, Radio 1, is the festival's official partner this year with Zane Lowe, Annie Mac and Rob da Bank all due to DJ. Other live acts set to perform include Vampire Weekend, Doves, Friendly Fires and Enter Shikari with Dave Clarke also playing live. This massive 3-day camping festival started life as a 1-day gig back in 2006 when Norman Cook, A.K.A. Fatboy Slim, took his famous 'Brighton Beach Party' to the shores of Loch Ness. Since then it’s grown in size and popularity and has featured some of the world’s most cutting-edge music talents including, Chemical Brothers, Manic Street Preachers, Daft Punk, The Prodigy, Razorlight and Basement Jaxx.
