From coastal getaways to city centre luxury, Britain’s accommodation offering continues to grow in 2024. Experience Indo-Persian heritage in Birmingham and Regency-style grandeur in Brighton, as well as fresh redevelopments in Edinburgh – all set to open their doors this year.

 

Recently opened

Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood

Opened 20 February 2024

Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood has opened its refurbished 4-star doors in Edinburgh’s Old Town, in the space of the former Macdonald Hotel. Conveniently located in the city centre, a 15-minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley railway station, the hotel features 160 modern ensuite bedrooms in Marriott’s signature style. Guests can enjoy a new spa with 14-metre heated pool, gym, and infrared sauna. The Greatroom lobby is home to a seating area, bar, and dining area. Look out for the sharing platters and afternoon tea. Other features include media and event spaces.

Baloci Birmingham

Expected in spring 2024

Hot on the heels of its restaurant launch of the same name, Baloci is set to offer Indo-Persian inspired accommodation in the former Edgbaston Hotel. With nods to the heritage and culture of nomadic Baloch tribes, six guest rooms will complete the fine dining restaurant and cocktail bar. Expect warm, earthy hues throughout, grand four poster beds with rich red drapes, and Afghan textiles. Each room is focused on different elements of history, taking guests on a journey through time. Rest in the grandeur of the Alexander the Great Master Bedroom or be transported back to the Silk Road in the Marco Polo Suite.

 

Mollie’s Manchester

Expected in mid-2024

With accommodation offerings in Oxfordshire and Bristol, Mollie’s Manchester will be the latest addition to the motel-diner’s repertoire. Due to open its doors in the St John’s neighbourhood, in the former space of Granada Studios, the hotel will feature 130 guest rooms. Other facilities will include a restaurant with space for 164-covers, a heated terrace with outdoor pool, and lounge bar with live music. The motel is launching in partnership with Soho House Manchester, which is due to be situated above Mollie’s.

 

No.124 , Brighton

Expected in July 2024

Bringing a Regency-style hotel to a part-Grade II listed building, No.124, Brighton is the latest opening from GuestHouse. Nestled on the sea front, a short walk from the beach, the hotel will feature 32 guest rooms and suites. In addition, guests can expect a relaxing spa offering the hotel's signature copper cove experience, and comfortable lounges to sip on cocktails. Other features include the Pearly Cow fire and ice concept restaurant, a terrace with wood-fired pizzas, a winter garden, and The Courtyard for events.

 

The Hoxton Edinburgh

Expected in summer 2024

Spread across an impressive row of 11 Georgian townhouses, The Hoxton Edinburgh will soon be opening its many doors. Featuring The Hoxton's signature style, guests will find a welcoming lobby, restaurant, events spaces, and a gallery, alongside 214 rooms. The development will also include three 'Hox homes', apartments that will offer long-stay accommodation, each with three bedrooms, ideal for guests visiting for Edinburgh’s renowned festivals and events.

 

Corbyn Head Hotel, Devon

Expected in summer 2024

Overlooking Torquay Bay, the new 4-star Corbyn Head Hotel will be the latest feather in the cap of the Singapore-based Fragrance Group. Working with Willmott Dixon contractors, the new hotel is set to have 152 guest rooms, eight of which will be wheelchair accessible. Other features include a restaurant, terraces overlooking the bay, roof top bar and parking for 101 cars, complete with a coach drop-off area. An onsite spa will also provide ample opportunity for those looking to relax.

 

The Resident Edinburgh

Expected in summer 2024

Found at Drumsheugh Gardens, The Resident Edinburgh will be a redevelopment of Meldrum House, and the first Resident Hotel to open in Scotland’s capital. Boasting 164 rooms with an elegant style and panoramic views across the city, the 4-star hotel is set to be a home from home experience. Rooms will feature an entrance hall, mini kitchen and eating area, vanity area, bedroom space and ensuite. The communal area of the hotel will feature a double fireplace alongside a selection of whisky.

 

Wildes Chester

Expected in 2024

Situated right in the heart of Chester city centre’s historic Rows, Wildes Chester was due to open in 2023. New plans have since been put forward and the development is now expected to open in 2024. The latest venture from the Wildes Group will see a luxurious boutique hotel with 18-rooms occupying the Victorian building. In addition to a state-of-the-art spa and swimming pool, the Wildes Group will carefully redevelop all rooms to create elegant contemporary spaces, while maintaining the building’s raft of period features. Sitting adjacent to the hotel is X by Harry Guy, the chef’s first solo cooking adventure offering a menu packed with seasonal ingredients and British produce.
