DESTINATION BRITAIN NORTH AMERICA TO BOOST CANADIAN TOURISM INDUSTRY

Thursday 22 September 2011

TORONTO, September 22, 2011 – On September 27 and 28, VisitBritain will host Destination Britain North America, the region’s key tradeshow where Canadian tour operators and media will meet with British tourism suppliers to build their programs for 2012 and beyond.

“Destination Britain North America is a prime opportunity to enhance key international business relationships,” said Ted Flett, VisitBritain’s public relations and communications manager - Canada. “And there is no better time. Britain is high on the radar of most travelling Canadians with a spectacular 2012 line up including the Summer Olympic and Paralympics Games, Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and World Gay Pride.”

Through a timed appointment marketplace, destination seminars and networking functions, Destination Britain North America is a one-stop-shop opportunity for Canadian tourism professionals to meet key industry players, cement current relationships and forge new ones.

Destination Britain North America will be hosted in New York City’s posh Eventi Hotel and include tour operators from across the continent. The seventy plus British suppliers include regional tourist boards, ground handlers, attractions, accommodation and transport providers. One dozen tour operators represent a broad range sectors including the niche market, coach and FIT.

The event coincides with the campaign launch of VisitBritain and the tourism industry’s four-year marketing campaign “Great Britain: You’re Invited.” The global campaign includes targeted Canadian activity including a television commercial with celebrity endorsements, active social media campaign and an advertising campaign in partnership with British Airways.
