It’s hard to believe Durham Cathedral is close to 1,000 years old when it stands so magnificent. In fact, it’s one of Britain’s most impressive buildings, and combined with Durham Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Looming high on the horizon of the ancient city of Durham, the cathedral has to be explored. Admire the fine Norman architecture, gaze at the stained glass in the mind-blowing rose window and listen to the bells tolling. And another fun fact: the cloisters of the cathedral were used for scenes in the Harry Potter movies. Take a look around while listening to those ancient bells pealing:
