Go on a killer tour of Britain’s crime film and TV locations
If the walls of Britain’s old prisons, jails and dungeons could talk, the stories they’d tell would send shivers down your spine. Once much-feared, today they’re fascinating heritage sites inviting the curious and the courageous to learn more about law and order in British history. You can even spend the night behind bars at Bodmin Jail – if you dare.
This is your chance to get under the skin of your favourite crime dramas, including Peaky Blinders filming locations. Don your flat cap and visit the Shelby family’s haunts, with an expert guide on hand for all the behind-the-scenes gossip. Or head on a true-crime tour to lift the veil on murky mysteries of yesteryear – and you’ll discover these real-life stories can often be stranger than fiction.

Welcome to this 19th-century ‘model village’, created by the Lever Brothers for workers at its soap factory (now Unilever). It’s also where Aunt Polly – played by the late Helen McCrory – is gifted a house in series two, episode two of Peaky Blinders. If she’d visited today, we’re sure she’d love the Lady Lever Art Gallery, where you can admire a mighty collection of Pre-Raphaelite paintings.
