Bristol’s impressive and historic Cathedral is located on College Green in the West End of the city. There has almost certainly been a church on the popular city centre site for many centuries, but it came to prominence in 1140. The Chapter House and Abbey Gatehouse can be visited when the church is open, 365 days a year, and other interesting remains lie within Bristol Cathedral School.
Visitors may recognise the cathedral from popular television series such as Wolf Hall, Sherlock and The White Princess, as its ornate and impressive interiors and exteriors continue to be used for major productions.
Bristol Cathedral is free to visit from 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 7.20am to 5pm on Sundays. Guided tours are available on Saturdays, or as arranged directly through the Chapter Clerk.
