Southeast England

SOUTHEAST - AT A GLANCE

Counties in Southeast England include Oxfordshire, Surrey, East Sussex and Kent – known as the ‘Garden of England’ thanks to its picturesque countryside. The southeast is also recognisable for its gentle rolling countryside. Here you’ll find two national parks: the New Forest and the South Downs. There's also no shortage on castles in this area, one of the most famous, Leeds Castle, is located in Kent and is open year round. You'll also find countless vineyards that make award-winning wine in this region. Many vineyards offer tours and tastings so you can sample the unique wine that is grown in this area. The iconic White Cliffs of Dover are in this region and on a clear day you can even see France from the top of the cliffs! From coastal escapes to historic port towns, there is something for everyone here. With a rich history and so much to see and do, it is easy to see why 8.5 million people live in Southeast England!

Much of the Southeast is easily accessible from London, for example cool seaside getaway Brighton, is just over 1 hour south by train.
