Fall in love with Britain’s romantic film locations

Who can forget that scene from Pride and Prejudice (1995), where a dripping wet Colin Firth emerges from a lake? There’s plenty to get flustered about at the real-life location of Mr Darcy’s Pemberley, Lyme, on the fringes of the Peak District. If modern romcoms are more your thing, make for London’s Notting Hill for scenery that steals the scene (and your heart).

Did Em and Dex’s love story, as told in Netflix’s One Day (2024), inspire you to take a trip to Edinburgh? Then you won’t want to miss the Vennel Steps – the backdrop to one of the show’s most romantic moments. Meanwhile, in Wales, love is in the air in Pembrokeshire, where 2016’s Me Before You found its blockbuster backdrop in the handsome town of Pembroke.
